ABOUT THE EXHIBIT AT THE RAUE CENTER FOR THE ARTS
A warm welcome to the CARL BARKS /
DISNEY DUCK Art Exhibition at the Raue Center For The Arts!
This exhibition is a "first" for
the
Crystal Lake, Illinois area ! You are invited to see and enjoy some of the
finest examples of popular culture from the 1940s, '50s, and '60s,
the years when Carl Barks was at his most productive in helping to
shape and mold the goals and aspirations of a whole generation
through his marvelous comic book stories for the Walt Disney
Company!
The Carl Barks / Disney Duck adventure stories
spanned continents and Scrooge, Donald, and the Boys would go off in
search of buried treasure, legendary artifacts, and items of untold
value, all courtesy of the vast wealth of Uncle Scrooge and his
bottomless Money Bin!
You are invited to peruse, enjoy,
study, and ask questions re: some of the most significant
contributions to popular culture ever produced!
See if you agree with none other than
GEORGE LUCAS, creator of the STAR WARS saga when he was quoted in a
TIME MAGAZINE article in 1982 about the work of Carl Barks: "What I
think I enjoy most about Uncle Scrooge is that he is so American in
his attitude. These comics are one of the few things you can point
to and say, 'Like it or not, this is what American is.'
And it is for just this reason that
they are a priceless part of our literary heritage!"
Best Regards,
Ed Bergen, President The Carl Barks Fan Club
